Pt and Pd nanoparticles have been prepared in a MOF (MesMOF-1) that has 3.9 and 4.7 nm cages. Each metal salt (K2[PtCl4], K2[PdCl4]) was dissolved in DMA or H2O, and into the solution, the evacuated MesMOF-1 was immersed for 1 h. The included metal ion was reduced by NaBH4 to produce M@MesMOF-1 (M = Pt, Pd). During this period, crystal color became brown while the solution turned clear. This procedure was repeated three times, and nitrogen sorption measurements were conducted with the isolated sample in each cycle. We observed the gradual reduction in the surface area of each metal-containing MesMOF-1. However, the isotherms for the samples prepared by DMA were very different from those obtained by aqueous solution. We will discuss the reason why the differences in the isotherms happen and are dependent on the preparation methods.
