PLGA Nanoparticles and Nanohalf-shells contaning curcumin as hydrophobic model drug: Preparation, characterization and In vitro studies

Poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) nanoparticles and nanohalf-shells containing curcumin as hydrophobic model drug were prepared by O/W emulsion solvent evaporation method. Half-shell structures were prepared by adding poloxamer (F-127) to the organic phase containing PLGA 504H. By changing the factors such as drug amount, surfactant amount and solvent amount, various could be prepared. The examination of surface morphology and size distribution were performed by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) and particle size analyzer (PSA), respectively. Encapsulation efficiency was measured by HPLC The addition of poloxamer influenced the encapsulation efficiency(EE%) and size of particles. Different In vitro release properties could be observed depending on the structure of particles.
