Core-shell nanoparticles(NPs), Au/Ag core-shell in this case, which allow for taking advantages of both Au and Ag components have been widely investigated in the fields of various sensors and programmed material assembly applications. Metallic NPs, especially AgNPs and AuNPs, are in spotlight in these fields due to their excellent properties, AgNPs has stronger optical property than AuNPs and AuNPs are easy to modify biomaterials like DNA and protein. Previously, DNA-embedded Au/Ag core-shell nanoparticles were synthesized and have shown their distinctive optical properties and extraordinary stability. Herein, we report kinetically controlled, straightforward silver coating method for generating protein-embedded Au/Ag core-shell nanoparticles, which are consisted of protein A-antibody complexes-modified Au core and a monolayer Ag shell that has stronger and different optical signals such as Raman signals from those of Au.
