Microperoxidase (MP) immobilized on a carbon nanotube/conducting polymer nanocomposed modified electrode was prepared. The MP modified electrode showed a well defined redox couple which is related to Fe(III)/Fe(II) interaction in the heme group of MP. Nitric oxide (NO) detection has been obtained using a MP modified electrode with cyclic voltammetry in a phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0). A comparison between three different kinds of enzyme and proteins; glucose oxidase (GOD), cytcrome c (Cyt c), and MP modified electrodes toward NO detection were performed. The MP modified electrode showed an excellent catalytic response for NO detection as compared with GOD and Cyt c modified electrodes. A higher catalytic response for NO on MP modified electrode makes it to be able for NO detection with a very low detection limit.
