Recently, many efforts have been made to immobilize biomolecules or their ligands using electrochemical methods that facilitate the precise and reproducible positioning of them since control over an individual electrode is possible. Although metal and carbon related electrodes have been widely used for biosensors, they have limited use in biological assays due to the opaque characteristic; in that sense, the use of optically transparent electrodes (OTEs) such as indium-tin-oxide (ITO) has potential applications to the assay that rely mainly on optical microscopic observation techniques. In this contribution, we demonstrate electrochemically directed and addressed immobilization of biotin derivatives on the bare surface of indium-tin-oxide and its application to the fabrication of immunosensor based on fluorescence.
