Since the first report on the organic electronic devices by Tang, the development of organic electronics based on organic small molecules has attracted considerable attention owing to their advantages of low cost, easy device fabrication, and potential applications. Recently, acene derivatives have been extensively investigated as organic semiconductors that can be utilized in the optoelectronic devices such as organic solar cells (OSCs), organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), and organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) due to their light absorbing, light emitting, and charge carrier transport ability. Herein, we report that a new acene molecule, naphtho[2,3,a]pyrene, can be used as a new organic semiconductor for the fabrication of OSCs, OLEDs, and OTFTs, via a vacuum deposition method.
