Polymer science under nanoscopic confinement has been focused on planar films but recently another geometry is also started being investigated. We found some examples where the behaviors of materials are non-traditional any more due to non-flat geometry. Taking the mobility of polymeric melt or the kinetics of chain molecules as examples, the porous confinement renders the breakdown of bulk behaviors. The measured mobility of polymers in the confined geometry is much higher than the mobility of the unconfined chains, and the kinetics and structure was strongly dependent on the degree and shape of confinement. Those unexpected physical behaviors are of significant importance in the design and processing of nanoscale engineering.
