CdTe nanoparticles doped by Mn(II) ion (1%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10%) were synthesized by treatment of mixture of Cd(II) and Mn(II) ions with H2Te in water under anaerobic condition. CdTe nanoparticles were self-organized to nanorods and nanowires when the surface ligands were partially removed. Nanoparticles or nanorods of Mn doped CdTe show much better quantum yields than those of CdTe. TEM images show that the nanorods becomes thicker by more dopant content. XRD patterns of the Mn doped samples are the same as the CdTe nano crystals, indicating no 2nd phase of Mn ions. The real contents of Mn dopant were established by ICP analyses and in good aggreement with nominal values at low content levels. Syntheses, structures characterizations and magnetic properties will be presented.
