A new protocol based on heterostructured bimetallic (Ir-Pt) organometallic system is proposed throughout film formation onto semiconductor ITO surface by the electrochemical deposition of electroactive carbazole moiety. A series of efficient light-harvesting systems (Ir-PtGx, x = 1-3) based on dendritic 4-phenylcarbazole derivatives coupled with the photosensitizer ([Ir(C^N)2(N^N)]+) were prepared. Throughout electropolymerization of the tagged carbazole unit, an adherent film containing core Ir-Pt center on the electrode surface was successfully formed. The corresponding photophysical and electrochemical study showed the effective S‒S and T‒T energy transfer between cores (Ir and Pt) in film, with its water durability. The heteronized film was then applied as a single-component photocatalyst (sensitizer (Ir)-water reduction center (Pt)) in a standard photo-induced hydrogen production system.
