New approaches to overcome problems faced in proteomics have been proposed and reported. Many of them are about how to enrich specific proteins, how to detect low abundant proteins and how to quantify protein concentration accurately. Although biological and biochemical approaches such as SISCAPA (Stable Isotope Standards and Capture by Anti-Peptide Antibodies), SILAC (Stable isotope labeling with amino acids in cell culture) have been widely used for the enrichment and quantification of proteome, chemical modification or chemical utilization of proteome are more useful tools for proteome analysis, specially for the PTM (post translational modification) analysis of proteome. Here, as products of effort to incorporate organic reactions or organic chemistry into proteomics, useful proteomic applications including enrichment, quantification and high sensitive detection methods will be presented.
