CuInxGa1-x(SeyS1-y)2(CIGS) thin film solar cell has been considered to one of the most promising ways to convert sunlight into electrical energy due to its high efficiency as well as high durability. The obstacles of the CIGS thin film solar cell fabrication for commercial applications may be relatively difficult manufacturing synthetic method and high processing costs because it is conventionally fabricated by a vacuum based deposition technique. Herein, we suggest a simpler and lower cost synthetic method of CIGS thin film by applying a paste coating methode. In this method the paste containing Cu, In, Ga precursor mixtures was firstly prepared followed by being printed on conducting glass substrates. The film was then annealed at three different conditions: an annealing at 450 oC in ambient atmosphere, an annealing at 500 oC in H2S/Ar atmosphere, and an annealing at 500 oC in Se vapor. The stoichiometric CIGSSe film was synthesized with the film thickness of ~2μm. Importantly, almost no impurity of carbon and oxygen was found in the CIGS film which would be very beneficial in solar cell applications. The compositional and structural characteristics of the film were investigated by various analysis techniques including XRD, SEM and EPMA, and will be discussed in the presentation.
