The metallo-silicalite was successfully synthesized by microwave irradiation and hydrothermal method. Zirconium and manganese could be substituted within the silicalite-1 framework. The UV study has shown that transition metal was incorporated in both Zr-silicalite-1 and Mn-silicalite-1. Zr-silicalite-1 has redox behavior that it was already confirmed by ESR. Styrene oxidation with H2O2 was carried out over Zr-silicalite-1 catalyst. Activity of styrene oxidation over Zr-silicalite-1 was compared both in microwave and hydrothermal synthesis. SEM image proved that Mn-silicalite-1 using microwave synthesis showed staked crystalline form with smaller crystallite size whereas hydrothermal synthesis was also showed stacked form with bigger crystallite size.
