Li2MnSiO4 has been an attractive cathode material for rechargeable lithium ion batteries. The main advantages of Li2MnSiO4 are relatively lower cost, less toxicity, environmental friendliness, and high theoretical capacity 333 mAhg-1. However, this material has a disadvantage of low conductivity. Conducting polymer, polypyrrole, has characteristics of high electrical conductivity and stability with flexibility. Nanosized Li2MnSiO4 was prepared by simple hydrothermal method using LiOH, SiO2, MnCl2. And then Li2MnSiO4/polypyrrole composite film was made by an electrochemical method. Composite film containing the Li2MnSiO4 in the conductive polymer network (polypyrrole) was galvanostatically grown on a working electrode in three electrode system. The characteristics of Li2MnSiO4/polypyrrole composite film, morphology and electrochemical properties were examined by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microcopy (SEM). Electrochemical properties change was also systematically examined and will be discussed.
