A new Li-containing phosphate, Li2AlSr2(PO4)3 was synthesized by molten salt method (crystal) and solid state reaction (powder). The structure of Li2AlSr2(PO4)3 was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P1 21/n (No. 14) with lattice parameters a = 4.945 ?, b = 22.088 ?, c = 8.632 ? and β = 91.47°. This compound composed of alternating layers of [LiAl(PO4)2]2- layer and [LiSr2PO2]+2 layer. Ionic conductivity was measured by impedance spectroscopy. Temperature dependences of the bulk ionic conductivity show Arrhenius behavior. Conductivity was found to be σ = 2.65 × 10-4 S/cm at 667 K with activation energy Ea = 0.53 eV.
