In this study, we have grown carbon nanofibers(CNFs) on Co-Ni and Co-Cu catalysts electroplated on C-fiber textiles by chemical vapor deposition(CVD) and applied the CNFs to an anode material of Li secondary batteries. Prior to the growth of CNFs, Co-Ni and Co-Cu catalysts were electroplated on C-fiber textiles. The CNFs were then grown by thermal CVD on Co-Ni/C-fiber textiles and Co-Cu/C-fiber textiles, respectively. Temperature of the furnace was increased up to 700℃ under N2 atmosphere and H2/N2 mixed gas for reduction process of oxidized surface was flowed for 1h at 700℃. CNFs were then grown on electroplated Co-Ni/C-fiber textiles and Co-Cu/C-fiber textiles by flowing ethylene/N2 mixed gas as carbon source for 1h at 700℃. SEM and EDS were measured to investigate the growth and compositions of CNFs. Physicochemical properties were characterized by XRD and BET. The As-grown CNFs onto C-fiber textile without any binder were used as an anode material of a conventional three-electrode cell. Cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge-discharge experiments were performed to investigate electrochemical properties of the cell.
