Nanosized materials possess unique physical and chemical characteristics suitable for wide range of device applications. Characterization of these materials is a technological challenge and requires the use of newer analytical techniques. We have used several synthetic approaches like self-assembly, nanostructuring in the form of tube, spheres for preparation of nanomaterials. Electrospinning was employed to form nanofibrous materials. Carbon nanotube was suitably functionalized, anchored with metallic nanoparticles and modified via chemical and electrochemical methods. HRTEM was used to understand the morphology of nanomaterials, scanning transmission X-ray microscopy was employed to predict chemical components via quantitative chemical mapping. The utilities of few of the nanomaterials will be demonstrated for applications in nano-sensors, lithium batteries, electrocatalysts etc.
