Herein, a high quality cuprous oxide (Cu2O) nanostructure was synthesized through an electrochemical method using two-electrode system for the first time. Cu foils were used as electrodes and NH2(OH)-HCl was utilized as a reducing agent. The synthesized Cu2O nanostructure formed in the vicinity of anode electrode shows significant electrochemical properties on ITO substrate to apply for non-enzyme glucose biosensors, especially for the one with preparation at 2V. Additionally, these samples that were prepared at 2V and 4V expose the best photo degradation behavior of methyl orange (MO). Morphology and property of Cu2O nanostructures were characterized by using scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD). The glucose biosensors exhibited good performance with high response, good selectivity, wide linear detection range and low detection limit. Synthesized Cu2O nanostructures have been expected as a potential material for non-enzyme glucose biosensor and photo degradation of organic pollutants.
