Lapachone is a topoisomerase I inhibitor that induces apoptosis by inhibiting cell cycle progression. It has mainly been studied for its anticancer effects. The aim of this work is to determine the solubility of lapachone and lapachol by using supercritical carbon dioxide. The solubilities of lapachone and lapachol in scCO2 were measured under the pressure ranging from (9.89 to 16.43) MPa and at temperatures ranging from (313.15 to 333.15) K, and the experimental solubility data were correlated by five different semiempirical models (the Chrastil, K-J, S-S, M-S-T, and J-C-F) which have theoretical backgrounds. For the systems described above, it was intended to test the available equations of state and empirical statistical methods to predict the solubilities of these solutes at higher pressures and temperatures outside of experimental conditions in scCO2. Furthermore, the data will serve as a guideline for optimizing operation conditions for extraction in scCO2.
