In the field of synthetic chemistry, the search for new and more efficient methods of carbon-carbon bond formation for application in the synthesis of complex molecules, particularly of cyclic compounds, continues to be a major goal. For example, many useful advances in transition metal-mediated approaches have been disclosed for the synthesis of cyclopentenones. One of the most extensively studied reactions is the Pauson-Khand reaction (PKR). Since 1990, we have been studying the development of the PKR including promotion and catalysis. During the time, we found many useful promoters and catalysts including asymmetric version. Recently, we have developed environmentally friendly processes via using transition metal nanoparticles as catalysts. In the lecture, we would like to discuss our results in detail.
