We have reported successful catalytic nitro-reduction and arylsilylation using bimetallic PdPt–Fe3O4 Nps, which are heterodimeric magnetically recyclable nanocatalysts. This bimetallic PdPt–Fe3O4 catalysts show a great possibility to become a promising tool for a wide range of scientific and industrial application with high efficiency, sustainability and environment-friendliness. Herein, we report a new synthetic strategy for one-pot selective synthesis of secondary amines via reductive amination of nitriles with nitroalkanes using the PdPt-Fe3O4 catalysts. The reactions involving the catalysts are very efficient for one-pot cascade hydrogenation of a nitrolalkanes and the reductive alkylation of the resulting amines with an imine generated in situ from benzonitrile from the same catalysts. This method allows for highly chemoselective synthesis of unsymmetrical secondary amines with the advantage of avoiding the use of alkyl halides and/or carbonyl compounds. Also, direct use of benzonitrile and nitroalkanes offer a green strategy for the preparation of amines, which are important building blocks for pharmaceutical, agrochemical and biotechnology applications
