Several copper based delafossite metal oxides ( M = Cr, Al, Ga, Fe, and others) have been known to be a potential p-type transparent conducting oxide material. They are a kind of layered structure, consisting of edge-sharing MO6 octahedra flattened to the direction of c-axis and Cu(I) cation located in a trigonal coordination environment. Herein, we prepared CuGaO2, CuCrO2, and CuCr1-xGaxO2 nanocrystals (NCs) and applied them as hole-transporting material (HTM) of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Solid solution of CuGaO2 and CuCrO2 in wide range could be readily prepared, because the difference of ionic radius between Cr3+ (0.52Å) and Ga3+ (0.62Å) is very small. Moreover, we except that CuCr1-xGaxO2 (0 < x < 1) can exhibit better performances than the pure CuGaO2 and CuCrO2 NCs with respect to hole-transporting property and morphology control. In this work, we synthesized CuCr1-xGaxO2 NPs by hydrothermal method with soluble metal nitrate salts as precursors. Initially, Cu(NO3)2.3H2O, Cr(NO3)3.9H2O and Ga(NO3)3.xH2O were dissolved in pure deionized water. TMAH was used as a mineralizer and ethylene glycol was used as a reducing agent to reduce Cu2+ ions. CuGaO2, CuCrO2, and CuCr1-xGaxO2 NCs with hexagonal nanodisc morphology were successfully prepared in this work. The prepared CuCr1-xGaxO2 NCs provided an improved photovoltaic performance when it was applied as HTM of PSC.
