For a few decades, many studies have been conducted to increase the efficiency of PSCs. There are many ways to increase efficiency of PSCs, and one of them is to use bulky alkyl chains as substituents. We wanted to create a new material for the active layer of the device, and diflourinated phenazine (DFPz) and benzodithiophene(BDT) were used as alternating copolymers. Phenazine was predicted that it has good charge mobility attributed to extended π conjugated structure and it was also expected that it has strong electronegativity attributed to C=N double bonds. To investigate the effect of bulky alkyl chain, various bulky alkyl chain were introduced. As a result, the polymer with BO(butyl octyl) alkyl chain has better performance than other bulky alkyl chain. So, the polymer with BO alkyl chain (PBDT-DT-BOFPz) achieved 4.24% of PCE (power conversion efficiency). Through this, it was confirmed that the use of an appropriate bulky chain contributes to the improvement of efficiency of PSCs.
