Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are valuable and multifunctional materials for diverse applications. We synthesized a new ditopic 2',3''-dimethoxy-[1,1':4',1'':4'',1'''-quaterphenyl]-3,3'''-dicarboxylic acid ligand (H2QPDC) from Suzuki-coupling reaction and following hydrolysis process. This C2h-symmetric ligand was a new extended version of our previous ligand, 3,3'-terphenyldicarboxylic acid (H2TPDC). Two new Zn-QPDC-MOFs with different structures were prepared via solvothermal method with or without DABCO pillar ligand. After structural characterization by XRD, Zn-MOF 1 of [Zn3(QPDC2-)3{N(CH2CH3)}] has a 2D-sheet-like structure, whereas Zn-MOF 2 of [{Zn2(QPDC2-)2DABCO}∙2DMA∙1H2O] shows an 1D-like double-chain structure. We will discuss the gas sorption properties and dye encapsulation capacities of the two Zn-MOFs.
