we report the new method to monitor formation of iodine film during electro-oxidation of I- in aqueous solution by rotating ring disk electrode (RRDE). Conventionally, current drop feature of cyclic voltammogram (CV) of zinc iodide is known as result from that iodine film acts as an insulator which inhibits the electro-oxidation reaction of I-. However, we found that iodine film does not inhibit oxidation reaction of I- during current drop region through RRDE. At first, we analyze CV of zinc iodide but, its interpretation would be complicated because CV shows a transient and potential variant electrochemical behavior of the I-/I3- redox reaction via I2 film in an aqueous solution. So, we would investigate formation of iodine film by electro-oxidation of I- at steady-state with a constant potential through chronoamperometric analysis. We found surface coverage of iodine film on electrode by potential, time and iodide concentration. We also suggest I- transfer model at the interface between water and iodine film by two steady-state current in chronoamperogram. We additionally analyze effect of cation and anion on iodine film formation. After that, we analyze CV again and de-convolute it by extracted information from chronoamperometric analysis. This result shows hypothesis that suggest iodide oxidation mechanism in aqueous solution.
