In the electrochemical glucose sensor field, glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) has attracted attention as an enzyme alternative to glucose oxidase (GOX), which suffers performance issues due to variability in oxygen concentrations. In this study, to develop an electron transfer mediator for glucose sensors using GDH. We synthesize Ru(1,10-phenanthroline)₂Cl₂ using 1,10-phenanthroline and RuCl₃. Created ruthenium complex were able to form catalytic current in GDH and to confirm that the electrical signal increased linearly according to the concentration of glucose at 1~20 mM. In addition, a different kind of ligand was introduced into the corresponding complex to provide the basis for the creation of various electron transfer mediator. UV-vis, FT-IR, H-NMR and CV were used to determine the synthesis, and CV, Zeta potentials and multi potential steps were used to determine the electrochemical properties and GDH response. This study confirmed the possibility of ruthenium complex as a GDH-based glucose sensor.
