Rare earth elements are usually applied to produce semiconductors which can make long-lived photoexcited charges for efficient catalytic photodegradation. Eu-doped Bi2WO6 samples which were successfully synthesized by a simple one-step showed the great doping effect on photodegradation efficiency. Several techniques, such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), were used for characterizing the prepared catalyst. The photocatalytic activities were investigated in the presence of H2O2 for 2,4,5-Trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T) as a target contaminant under visible light irradiation. Under optimized condition, the photodegradation efficiency of 2,4,5-T by Eu-doped Bi2WO6 samples was 1.7-fold higher than that of pristine Bi2WO6 sample.
