In this study, N-doped mesoporous TiO2 nanomaterials with different loading contents from 0 to 10.0 wt% were synthesized by a sol−gel method. The doped of nitrogen on the TiO2 was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS) showed that the resulting N-doped mesoporous TiO2 nanomaterials shifted the absorption threshold to the visible light region compared with pure TiO2. The photocatalytic activity resulting N-doped mesoporous TiO2 nanomaterials was evaluated by degradation of methyl orange (MO) under visible-light irradiation. The results showed that resulting N-doped mesoporous TiO2 nanomaterials can effectively degrade MO, and an excellent photocatalytic enhancement than pure TiO2.
