It has been found that thiazole, which is structurally similar to triazoles widely used in conventional antifungal agents, can be a good candidate for new antifungal agents. In addition, 1,4-naphthoquinone is known as a pharmacologically important part for various diseases. Therefore, in this study, we designed and synthesized a new hybride antifungal compound containing both 1,4-naphthoquinone and 4,5-dimethylthiazolium moiety. Its bioassay has been achieved to confirm the anti-fungal activity of several novel synthetic compounds against four species including Candida albicans by micro-dilution anti-fungal susceptibility testing (MIC assay).
