The luminescent solar concentrator (LSC) is a device that employs luminescent dyes to concentrate the sunlight on photovoltaic (PV) cell placed at the edge of waveguide. We coupled nano-sized molecular hexanuclear rhenium clusters and core/shell quantum dots as a luminophore to make LSCs with better efficiency and stability. One of the dyes applied in this study, inorganic-organic cluster (dMDAEMA)4[Re6S8(NCS)6] has low reabsorption due to the massive Stokes shift but has a relatively low PCE due to low quantum yield. Zn doped CuGaS/ZnS (ZCGS/ZnS) core/shell quantum dots as an energy donor, and the organic-inorganic salt, (dMDAEMA)4[Re6S8(NCS)6], as an energy acceptor. These nano-sized luminophores were co-encapsulated in polymer matrix. The LSC exhibits >90% transparency in visible wavelength range and power conversion efficiency is 1.98% for rhenium cluster LSC and 0.88% for quantum dots LSC when using a single dye, and the highest efficiency is 2.63% for multi dyes LSC.
