Methyl pheophorbide-a was used as starting material for the synthesis of new bromo-substituted chlorin analogues. The bromines were introduced into 3-position that 3-(1-bromoethyl)-3-devinylpheophorbide-a methyl ester was synthesized. This compound react with glucose and K2CO3 anhydrous in DMF directly. The title compound 3-[-2-(D-Glucopyranosyloxy)ethyl]-3-devinylpheophorbid methyl ester was obtained. The new compounds were characterized by UV and 1H-NMR spectra.This compounds will be useful for potent photosensitizers of photodynamic therapy.
