New photochromic bis-spiropyran compounds 3 were synthesized from the condensation reaction of substituted salicylaldehydes with 6-chloro-N2,N4-bis(1,3,3-trimethyl-2-methyleneindolin-5-yl)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine 2, which were obtained from the reaction of 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine with 2 mols of 5-amino-2-methylene-1,3,3-trimethylindoline (5-aminoFB) 1. 5-AminoFB 1 was obtained from nitration/reduction of commercially available 2-methylene-1,3,3-trimethylindoline (FB). Thermo and photochromic behavior have been detected in UV-Vis spectroscopy. The prepared dye molecules were characterized by IR, 1H, 13C NMR spectroscopy
