We present a simple cost effective method for fabricating microchannels from inorganic polymer. The glass-like microchannel and substrates were fabricated from preceramic polymer using softlithographic process, such as micromolding and imprinting lithography with commercially available polyvinylsilazane (VL 20, KiON Corporation, USA). The resultant preceramic polymer derived micro channels were found to poses unique glass like characteristics, such as high transparency, high thermal stability and chemical inertness. Preceramic polymer based micro channels bring in a better choice of materials in the area of micro fluidics. Hydrophobic nature of the cured polymer was best utilized for direct patterning of protein by nonspecific binding. We demonstrate the application of the resultant micro channel in performing chemical reaction.
