Bimetallic nanoparticles are known to take various kinds of structure: from a high entropy solid solution (random alloy) to such a low entropy product ( such as a cluster-in-cluster, a layered compound, a heterobondphilic structure, and a core/shell structure). This work aims at the preparation of core/shell type second generation Pd- Ag nanoparticles by means of microwave irradiation. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to determine the formation of core-shell nanoparticles with separate domains of Ag and Pd. The formation of Core-Shell-Structured bimetallic nanoparticles was followed by monitoring the plasmon band in the UV-visible spectroscopy. Further, the catalytic activity of bimetallic core- shell nanoparticles were studied in details.
