The optimized nanophosphors can be used as radiation detectors in various medical imaging systems, used in diagnostic radiology and X-ray radiography, sensor material and biological labelling with the precise control of the morphology. Lanthanide vanadate nanoparticles are prepared as well dispersed from highly concentrated solutions by a very simple aqueous route, using crystalline cellulose precursor method. Yttrium orthovanadate (YVO4) is an attractive host lattice for several lanthanide ions which are able to be activator to produce more efficient phosphors, emitting a variety of colors. Nano-sized YVO4:Eu powder was synthesized by a precursor process using Y2O3, V2O5 and Eu2O3 as starting materials. Under UV excitation, the red color is furnished from YVO4:Eu. For more efficiency of photoluminescence, we can develop the process such as changing of concentration of activator like Eu of YVO4:Eu powder, activator type of powder and the annealing temperature including ramp rate of firing temperature in this work.
