Polyanilines have attracted much attention because of their unique properties such as fast switch of redox states and effects of various dopants. The oxidation level of can be readily affected by their inherent reversible doping-dedoping mechanisms, causing the variations in conductivity, color, mass, volume, and so forth. In this study, t-butoxycarbonyl (t-BOC) substituted aniline heptamer diamine as a monomer with good solubility and well-defined structure was synthesized by palladium-catalyzed aromatic amination. The oligoaniline was polymerized with 1,6-diisocyanatohexane to produce a rod-coil multi block polymer which has good solubility in common solvents due to t-BOC. After removing t-BOC groups or doping, the electrochemical properties and morphological structures of the polymer were studied using cyclic voltammetry (CV), ultraviolet-visible spectroscope (UV-vis), atomic force microscope (AFM) and small angle X-ray spectroscope (SAXS).
