Colloidal nanoparticles employing structural hybrid nature have attracted much attention in the past decade because of their unique electro-optical properties along with wide spectrum of property control capability. When a metallic component with free electrons (essentially Au, Ag, Cu, and the alkali metals) possessing surface plasmon resonances in the visible spectrum, which give rise to such intensive colors, is embedded in the interior or deposited on the surface of colloidal nanoparticles during hybridization, vivid color change and electro-responsive behavior can be found in terms of population of the guest component and its distribution. In this study, the fabrication of organic-inorganic hybrid colloidal nanoparticles has been performed and their performance along with application is briefly discussed.
