Various types of benzochromen-1-one derivatives were synthesized starting from the Baylis-Hillman adducts by following the sequential reactions: (i) introduction of naphthols at the primary position of the Baylis-Hillman adduct, (ii) hydrolysis of ester group, and (iii) TFAA-assisted Friedel-Crafts type cyclization.
