An in-situ photoacoustic spectroscopic technique was applied to the kinetic measurements of the CO2 reforming reaction of CH4 in the presence of perovskite La1-xNiO3-1.5x(x=0, 0.1, 0.2) catalysts. The catalytic reactions were carried out in the temperature range of 550~700 ℃ at various partial pressures of CO2 and CH4 under 40 Torr total pressure in a closed-circulation reactor system using a photoacousitc cell. The variation of CO2 photoacoustic signal during the catalytic reaction according to the mole rations of the catalyst was recorded as a function of time. The CO2 photoacoustic signal changing for the initial reaction times provided precise data for the rate of CO2 disappearance. The apparent activation energies and the reaction orders of CO2 and CH4 for the CO2/CH4 reaction over perovskite La1-xNiO3-1.5x(x=0, 0.1, 0.2) catalysts were determined from the initial reaction rates.
