Conjugated polymers are the most wanted materials for the fabrication of electronic devices such as light emitting diodes, solar cells and thin film field effect transistors on flexible substrates. P3HT has emerged as one of the very promising materials and it is the subject of intense research owing to its striking properties like good stability, reasonably high hole mobility and conductivity in its regioregular form. SWCNT possess not only extremely desirable mechanical properties of strength and flexibility but also the electronic properties ranging from metallic to semiconducting depending upon their structure. Hence the studies of preparation and properties of P3HT wrapped single-walled carbon nanotubes are of much importance. The in-situ synthesis P3HT/SWCNT composites are characterized for their structural aspects in terms of the variations in the nanotube contents in the polymer matrix from spectral and XRD studies. The greater stability and solubilization of the composite in this method of preparation is highlighted compared to the conventional blending through sonication.
