Functionalization with active sites on siliceous SBA mesoporous materials can enhance the potential application in catalysis. In-situ preparation through microwave irradiation was conducted to synthesize chloropropyl functionalized Al/Ti heteroatom-substituted SBA-15. This was aimed to posses a bifunctional character of both acidic and redox functionality associated with the present of Al and Ti heteroatom. Moreover, additional functionalization with highly dispersed chloroprophyl group could offer opportunity for further functionalization via simple substitution reactions. Characterization of these materials was done by powder X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD), diffuse reflectance UV (UV-DRS), N2 sorption isotherm, and 27Al MAS NMR. Substitution reaction of chloro group was done by reacting these materials with strong chelating agent tetraaza macrocycle (cyclam).
