Many research works have shown that the adjustment of chemical and physical nature of pores in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can lead to a substantial increase of hydrogen storage amount. For example, the use of open metal sites is especially effective in obtaining high H2 uptake at lower temperature. However, most known methods including it do not give a significant improvement at ambient temperature except for the case of the mechanical mixture of MOFs or COFs and Pt/AC. It is a current consensus in this field that a promising strategy is to use metal atoms or metal clusters incorporated in MOFs as the additional H2 binding site that can be in operation even at ambient temperature. In this regard, we have tried to generate and store several metal clusters or films in a MOF of which framework is built of fused 3.9 and 4.7 nm cages. Preliminary results indicate that the prepared samples have modified porosity and can uptake various gases including hydrogen. The details in our recent achievements will be presented.
