Determination of microgram per gram levels of boron in low alloy steel reference samples prepared by Korea Research Institution of Standard and Science(KRISS) has been performed by neutron-induced prompt gamma ray activation analysis(PGAA) A about 100 mg sample was irradiated with thermal guided neutrons of HANARO, research reactor. The Doppler-broadened 478 keV peak resulting from capture in boron was overlapped with prompt gamma-rays of similar energies resulting from capture in cobalt and nickel and so on showed spectral interference in the determination of boron. The interference was corrected by peak decomposition method. The results of the current method were compared with those obtained by Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry(ICP-OES).
