Currently, the introduction of tertiary alcohol with enantioselective manner has been studied enormously. Our group also reported the construction of the quaternary carbon bearing tertiary alcohol group via desymmetrization method of meso 2-substituted glycerols. For the chiral tertiary alcohol, we approached to this project with two ways. First way is to develop the novel catalyst and utilize the catalyst to desymmetrization. Second is to desy-mmetrize the meso 2-substituted glycerols with the well-known catalyst. Actually, we got the best results in both cases and we are now synthesizing several kinds of the natural products with our developed methods.
