Advances of medicine and public health care system have lengthened the life expectancy in advanced countries. Neurodegenerative diseases are the typical age-associated brain disorders with very high incidence in developed countries with an aging population. Age-associated brain disorders are chronic, progressive, incurable, and fatal. Therefore, early diagnosis and differentiation of these brain disorders is the most urgent prerequisite for providing the appropriate supportive and medical care to alleviate the progression and to reduce the psychological and economical burden on family and society. Using Diversity Oriented Fluorescence Library Approach (DOFLA) combined by chemical genetics approach, we developed novel bioimaging probes and potential therapeutic candidates in various neurodegenerative diseases.
