Virus are the major cause of human diseases, and efficient detection method is critical for prevention and monitoring of viral diseases. For efficient detection of virus, different approaches, such as ELISA or PCR, have been applied. Although these methods provide high sensitivity and selectivity, they have limitations in field application due to their long operation time and dependence of lab-scale instruments. To develop a fast and small scale detection system for virus we designed a well-shaped nano structure which can capture virus and generate electric signals. A platinum based nano-well layer was prepared using self-assembly method, and antibodies specific to T7 bacteriophage was immobilized on the basement of nano-well. T7 phage particles bind to the nano-well, and a gold nanoparticle coated with T7 antibodies bind to the surface bound T7 phages. The gold particles bound to T7 phages were enlarged using silver reduction, which can generate electric signals.
