Dopamine (DA) is one of the important neurotransmitter molecules in the mammalian central nervous systems. When DA exists as abnormal levels, it results in neurological disorder such as Parkinson’s disease and schizophrenia. Therefore, it is essential to develop the methods for determination of DA in physiological fluid. In this work, the competitive Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (cELISA) method was performed to determine DA residue in urine. Urine consists of several organic and inorganic constituents. Generally, the concentration of uric acid (UA) and ascorbic acid (AA) is much higher than DA (100-1000 times) in urine. Thus, this cELISA method optimized enables to detect DA residue in urine in the highly presence of AA and UA without any sample pre-treatment. Also, this method provides optimal limit of detection and dynamic range of DA in urine with good reproducibility.
