Synthesis and Characterization of Hybrid Poly(tetramethyldisilane)s Containing Aromatic diol Derivatives along the Polymer Main Chain

1,2-Diethylamino-1,1,2,2-tetramethyldisilane as monomer was prepared by the substitution reaction of 1,2-dichloro-1,1,2,2-tetramethyldisilane containing two chlorine functional groups with diethylamine in the presence of hexane as solvent. We have synthesized new polysiloxane materials containing aromatic diol groups along the main chain by melt copolymerization of the prepared monomer with diol derivatives such as 4,4'-biphenol, bisphenolA, 2,6-dihydroxynaphthalene, 4,4'-(9-fluorenylidene)diphenol, 9H-fluoren-9,9-dimethanol, 4,4'-(9-fluorenylidene)bis(2-phenoxyethanol), etc. The obtained polysiloxanes are soluble in usual organic solvents such as tetrahydrofuran or chloroform. The prepared materials were fully characterized by MS, GPC, NMR, and IR spectroscopies along with TGA. We also studied the electronic properties of the prepared polysiloxanes by UV-vis absorption, excitation and fluorescence emission spectroscopic methods, in particular.
