Abstract |
The using solar energy to produce hydrogen by means of water splitting process is one of the most interesting ways to achieve clean and renewable energy. The rapid improvement of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) has made them the biggest interest to be studied for application in many fields, including employing in water splitting. However, PSCs are highly susceptible to degradation by moisture and water.
Herein a simple method that enables the stability of perovskite device for photoelectrocatalyst hydrogen evolution in water is reported. Field’s metal, a fusible InBiSn alloy, is used efficiently as a protection layer to block electrolyte from attacking underlying perovskite layer while simutaneously allowing the photogenerated electrons to reach a hydrogen evolution catalyst. The photoelectrodes show remarkable stability retaining more than 8 hours under continuous illumination.
