Abstract New complexes [LnZnCl2] (Ln = LA – LE) were synthesized by the reaction of [ZnCl2] with N,N-bis((1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)-2,6-dimethylbenzenamine (LA), N,N-bis((1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)-4-bromobenzenamine (LB), N,N-bis((1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)benzhydrylamine (LC), N,N-bis((1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)cyclohexylmethylamine (LD), N,N-bis((3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)cyclohexylmethylamine (LE), respectively. Zn(II) complexes were characterized by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, IR, and elemental analyzer. The catalytic properties of these complexes toward the polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and racemic lactide were investigated. [LCZnCl2] showed the highest catalytic activity for the polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) in the presence of modified methylaluminoxane (MMAO) with an activity of 3.95 × 104 g PMMA/molcat•h at 60oC. Methylated Zn(II) complexes were employed and evaluated as an initiator for ROP of rac-Lactide. The heterotactic polylacticacid (PLA) with Pr up to 79 % can be obtained in CH2Cl2 at -50oC.
