Subject Synthesis of various nano structures of Ag/Cu alloy by polyol method

Abstract The 200 nm Ag/Cu alloy was relatively easily obtained by the polyol method. Ag-Cu alloy nano structures were prepared by mixture of silver nitrate(AgNO3) and copper acetate hydrate(Cu(OAc)2ㆍxH2O) with poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) and poly(vinyl alcohol) in ethylene glycol. In this experiment, the Ag-Cu alloy was grown at 180 ℃ with different reaction times. The composition of poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) and poly(vinyl alcohol) used as a stabilizer was changed and various alloys of different shapes and sizes were introduced. The form of the alloys were made of nanorod or nanowire due to crosslinking as the concentration of poly(vinyl alcohol) used as capping agent is higher. The size of nanoparticles was measured by SEM and TEM, and their optical characteristics were analyzed by UV-Vis spectra.
